9/11 Lawyers: World Trade Center Victim Compensation Fund

Millions of Americans remember where they were and what they were doing during the 9/11 terrorist attack on the World Trade Center in New York City.

Sadly, many of those who lived, worked or went to school in the area are now either sick or have lost family members from cancer due to airborne toxins and fumes throughout lower Manhattan neighborhoods. The September 11th Victim Compensation Fund (VCF) is a federally funded program established to provide compassionate support and financial assistance to individuals who suffered physical harm or lost loved ones due to the tragic events of September 11, 2001, or during the courageous debris removal efforts that followed.

If you or a loved one have cancer related to the World Trade Center 9/11 toxic exposure zone, or if you lost a family member to 9/11-related cancer, please call Pintas & Mullins Law Firm today. Our World Trade Center 9/11 lawyers can help you recover compensation.

You Could Be Eligible for the 9/11 Cancer Victim Compensation Fund

Many people do not know that they are entitled to financial compensation for cancer caused by the 9/11 terrorist attack.

A lawyer can help determine if you or a family member are entitled to the Victim Compensation Fund. You do not have to be a rescue worker or first responder to qualify.

9/11 Compensation Fund Eligibility Requirements

The 9/11 Victim Compensation Fund was created to provide compensation for any person (or a deceased person’s representative) who was injured, killed, or became ill as a result of the toxic fallout from terrorist-related aircraft crashes or exposure to the crash sites.

You may qualify for the Victim Compensation Fund if:

  • You lived, worked, or attended school within the lower Manhattan exposure zone, or the debris removal route at any time between September 11, 2001, through May 30, 2002, and have been diagnosed with 9/11 related cancer.
  • You are the personal representative of an eligible family member who died from 9/11 related cancer from exposure at the World Trade Center.
  • You were a first responder at the crash sites at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., or the plane crash near Shanksville, Pennsylvania, and have been diagnosed with cancer.
  • You are the personal representative of an eligible family member who died from 9/11 related cancer from the Pentagon or Shanksville sites.

World Trade Center Health Program

The 9/11 attacks and the subsequent cleanup exposed first responders, disaster personnel, and anyone in the area, to toxic fumes, dust, and smoke.

If you or a loved one are battling cancer or were diagnosed with a respiratory illness as a result of 9/11 exposure, you may qualify for one or both of the following programs:

  • 9/11 Victim Compensation Fund
  • World Trade Center Health Program (WTCHP)

Each of these federally funded programs are designed to help victims and personal representatives with physical and emotional injuries. The 9/11 Victim Compensation Fund provides financial payments, while the WTCHP offers medical monitoring and many psychological health services.

You should know that the 9/11 Victims Compensation Fund has been through several different changes and presidential administrations. The rules might change if you are to wait to register for a claim. The federal government could change the current compensation system.

9/11 Victim Compensation Fund Eligibility: Covered Medical Conditions

The Victim Compensation Fund is set up to compensate for any injury, illness or death that resulted from the tragedy.
