The accident killed both parents, although doctors attempted to save the child by performing an emergency cesarean section at the scene. Unfortunately, the newborn died at a nearby hospital.
The parents, Raizy and Nachman Glauber, both 21, were on their way to the hospital using a car service when a BMW slammed into their vehicle at an intersection. The driver of the car immediately fled the scene. The BMW’s owner was recently arrested for insurance fraud after claiming that she was not driving her car at the time of the crash, and that she had allowed someone not listed on her insurance policy to drive her car.
Family and friends of the Glauber’s are demanding the driver of the car, who has not yet been identified, be charged with triple-homicide. Both parents were sitting in the back seat of the car as Pedro Nunez Delacruz drove. The 24-weeks-pregnant mother was thrown from the car and landed underneath a parked trailer-tractor. The father was pinned inside the car, and had to be cut out by emergency workers. The driver was taken to the hospital for minor injuries and later released.
Doctors performed an emergency cesarean section at the scene of the crash in attempts to save the baby boy’s life. He was delivered two months prematurely and brought to a nearby hospital in critical condition. The newborn died in the hospital the next day.
Delacruz was operating his car service illegally, as his application for a livery service in the City of New York was pending at the time of the crash. New York’s Taxi and Limousine Commission stated that Delacruz should not have been picking up passengers at all.

Raizy and Nachman Glauber were married in 2012, and lived in Williamsburg, Brooklyn near their families. Hundreds of mourners gathered in the Brooklyn neighborhood after the accident, surrounding two coffins draped in black velvet. Members of the Satmar Orthodox Jewish community carried the parents’ caskets to their funeral.
