A daughter from Texas caught horrific video from the nursing home where her 93-year-old mother was staying after implanting a hidden camera in her room. That led to the arrest of a worker. ABC 13 reports.
The footage allegedly shows Tracy Thompson abusing her charge at Grace Care Center in Tomball, Texas. The cameras were placed after the mother told her daughter that someone was hurting her in the home. The abuses included hyper-extending the elderly woman’s joints and putting feces in her mouth.
In October, the footage was forwarded to the nursing home and Thompson was fired. Police then launched an investigation into the matter. It took time, but Thompson was arrested and charged in January and is due back in court in mid-February.
The daughter then shared her video with the media in the hope that other victims at the home and their families speak out about other abuses they might have suffered.
While it is not legal in every state to use hidden cameras in nursing homes, there have been a multitude of cases where footage from them has provided valuable evidence. If you are considering using a hidden camera to catch abuse, speak with a nursing home injury lawyer first about the legality and how you can protect yourself and your loved one.
