Dunecraft Inc., Dream on Me Inc., Baby Jogger LLC., KidCo Inc., and Britax are recalling numerous products that pose significant risk of injury and death. Product recall attorneys warn American parents of the safety hazards posed by these products.
The Cleveland, Ohio based company Dunecraft is recalling its Water Balz, Growing Skulls, H20 Orbs, and Fabulous Flower toys due to serious ingestion hazards. These products are marble-sized and meant to absorb water to grow to up to 400 times their original size. If any of these toys are ingested, they will expand inside the body and cause a blockage in the small intestine. Side effects of ingestion include vomiting, dehydration, pain, and others that could be life-threatening. The toys do not show up in x-rays and must be surgically removed.
This was discovered when an 8-month-old girl from Texas swallowed a Water Balz and suffered an extreme intestinal obstruction, requiring emergency surgery. These products were sold at Bed Bath & Beyond, Five Below, Hobby Lobby, Urban Outfitters, Mircrocenter, and other stores nation-wide and online.

About 50,000 Dream On Me Bath Seats were recalled because they failed to meet federal safety standards. The recall includes all Dream On Me Bath Seats, which they are labeled on or under the back of the seats. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has received five adverse reports including one of a near-drowning of a 12-month-old girl. The seats do not meet federal requirements for stability, and pose the risk of tipping over, which may cause drowning or water injury. This product was sold at small retailers and online, including on Amazon.com and Wayfair.com.
Nearly 8,500 Baby Jogger City Versa strollers are also being recalled due to falling hazards. The stroller frame can fail to lock in place and can collapse while in use, posing a risk of falling to children in the stroller. The recall applies to those Baby Jogger strollers produced between May 15 and August 20, 2012. Dates can be found on the stroller’s black plastic side hinge, below the printed “Baby Jogger” and “City Versa.” Six reports of incidents have been received.

Lastly, KidCdo Inc. is recalling about 220,000 PeaPod and PeaPod Plus Travel Beds. The recall was spurred by a reports of at least nine children entrapped or distressed while in the travel beds, including one infant death in New York City. The travel beds are portable sleep tents with air mattresses that fit into a zippered floor pocket. It was recently discovered that infants and small children could roll off the edge of the inflatable mattress and become stuck between the mattress and the sides of the tent, posing the danger of suffocation. These travel beds came into the market in 2005 and have been sold ever since in independent specialty stores and online. Similarly to Britax, KidCo is offering a free corrective kit, which includes supports to strengthen the tent sides.
